WHO IS THE GANGSTER?

A saga of human emotions, a replica of ecstasy, a story of betrayal and love… a tale of unfulfilled desires and the honesty of the dishonest and dishonesty of the honest in love…. Gangster, the film that has a simple story with not-so-simple twists and turns. The speaking silence of the gangster, speaking volumes about his honesty, his urge to have a family, his passion towards a bar girl. Where millions of white collared people scribble on the character and dignity of a woman at night there’s one man who kills during the daylight yet protects the sanctity of a woman when someone tries forcing himself upon on a woman. Gangster is not just a story… it’s a tale… a saga of not just one Gangster ‘Daya’ but the very existence of the word Gangster. It questions the gangster in our hearts which wants infidelity to get their work done, by hook or by crook. An officer uses a woman to get to Daya, the Gangster. An unborn child too is not sufficient to make him realize his mistake. Amidst the brutal killings, gun shots Daya is able to protect his heart, to give it to his lady love. He tries giving her love, security, passion. However his profession doesn’t let him fulfill his desire, running continuously from one pole to the other he still manages to hold the hand of his lady love throughout. The hand that killed hundreds couldn’t hurt the one he loved even after knowing that she has betrayed him. Her ruthless justification for her infidelity holds no truth as she had knowingly accepted Daya. Was it the weakness to hold back in front of a mans attentions and love? Was it the emptiness or the physical absence of her mate which led to her deceitful act? The Gangster is a class apart! Emoting with his eyes it is a bliss to see a wonderful actor who could stand apart and make a mark for himself in silent act. Imran Hashmi is the wicked good officer who sacrifices his character as a man to fulfill his duty towards his nation. He doesn’t think twice before exploiting the emotions and body of the Gangsters lady love to get to him. The actress emotes well, until she speaks. She needs to work on her diction. However she fits the bill as someone who doesn’t know whats happening in her life and falls prey to her heart. Gangster reflects varied human emotions right from the honest and dedicated love of a gangster, perhaps the most powerful character of the film, to Imran Hashmi who seeks the hatred of the audience even after being honest. The actress, who is has a loving partner yet is unhappy because he is absent. Her proneness to solitude that leads to her straying. However the only honest person in this movie is the Gangster whose love is flawless. It is a movie worth watching but only for those who want to understand the human mind better. Someone who wants to have fun or wants sheer entertainment would be highly disappointed with this movie. The end is upsetting yet extremely appropriate. It would leave a smile on the face of the audience after watching the unison of the family which was never a family!
